Spiced Cider

Spiced Cider

I was inspired by a mezcal cider from the Wren but tweaked it quite significantly to make it my own. This is an easy drink to make in large batches for a gathering and guests can easily customize it with their spirit of choice.

Amounts indicated below are per serving.

  • Mulling spices or ¼ oz All Spice Dram
  • 8 oz unfiltered apple cider
  • 2 oz mezcal (alternatives: whiskey / spiced rum)
  • ½ oz St George spiced pear liqueur
  • ½ oz ginger liqueur
  • 3 dashes of orange bitters
  • 2 dashes of ginger bitters

Heat the apple cider with the mulling spices on low until piping hot. If you don’t have mulling spices, ¼ oz All Spice Dram can be used instead (mix with other alcohol, do not heat with the apple cider). Combine all other ingredients in a mug. Pour hot cider on top. Stir to combine. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, orange slice, or whipped cream.
