The weather is finally warm! For me, this means chilled bubbles. I love a bottle of great champagne for special occasions, but my go-to for an every day sparkler is Dom. Glinavos’ Paleokerisio from Northern Greece.
I love a funky orange wine (don’t worry, this one isn’t too weird) and this is semi-sparkling and a natural wine to boot. Astor Wine & Spirits sells the 500ml bottles for $13.99 so if you don’t end up loving it, it’s not a huge loss. But I think this one is worth a try.
If you’re not familiar with orange wine yet - it’s wine made from white grapes but with skin contact during fermentation (like rosé but with white grapes instead of red!) which gives the wine varying levels of orange hue and a more complex flavor than you get from most white wines.
I always describe it as white wine for red wine drinkers. Some are more oxidative or funkier than others - verging on a flavor profile that is similar to sour beer (but oh so much better!).
